The Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia
Rector of the MIA Academy, Givi Mikanadze, with the representatives of the MIA Archive paid a working visit to the Republic of Poland. Within the framework of the visit, the delegation met Dr. Jarosław Szarek - President of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland.
At the meeting, Omar Tushurashvili - Director of the MIA Archive spoke about implemented and current projects of the Archive. The parties agreed on exact terms of future archival and historical researches, and determined concrete plans of future cooperation.
Within the framework of the visit, the presentation of the book “Repressions against Poles in Soviet Georgia (1937-1938)” was held in Warsaw and Gldansk. This publication was prepared by the staff of the MIA Archive and the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland. The monography offers a review of the topic of historical-political situation of the Soviet Union, and repressions against Poles who lived in Georgia. The event was attended by Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Mariusz Błaszczak, the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic Poland, Nikoloz Nikolozishvili, MIA police attaché, Giorgi Gamsakhurdia, researchers and students.
This monography is the first part of those volumes which are to be published within the framework of mutual research conducted by the staff of the MIA Archive of Georgia and the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland.
